Acupuncture for Pain

"I woke up Jan 15, 2025 and I had zero pain. Zero, none. I could sit, I could actually function. And I knew that day, that I could fix this. -- They gave me my life back.

You go through physicians who tell you, "well, take this medication, or try this, or try that." Nothing worked. - Nothing. And they had me on some pretty powerful pain medication. When I started coming here, those pain medications are gone. I haven't taken a pain pill in months."

Kevin's Story

Acupuncture for Fertility

Kelsey's Story

I had been trying to have another child for about 2 1/2 years before I came to The Center for Healing Arts. -- We had two traumatic miscarriages -- and nobody had answers. We had every test done [in] the book and everybody said "there's no reason you should be losing these babies."

I put in the work and I was here, I think, every single week for a year. I have a beautiful 9 month old baby now. I am forever grateful to my experience here."

Acupuncture for Allergies

I had developed allergy induced asthma. When I first started, I was taking a preventative inhaler every morning, I was hitting the rescue inhaler at least once a day, and then a nebulizer every night.

I'm not taking any of those things anymore. I've been able to do things that I couldn't do for a lot of years because of the asthma. This has actually let me do what I want to again.

It's just amazing how it makes you feel at the end of a session."

FAQ's

Find clear, trustworthy answers to the most common questions about acupuncture, what to expect in your sessions, and how to prepare for your visit.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people find acupuncture very comfortable. The specialized needles are extremely thin and barely noticeable, often creating only a light tap sensation as our masterfully skilled practitioners place them. Once they’re in, the acupuncture itself feels deeply relaxing as your body settles into a calm, restorative state.

Is this witchcraft?

No—acupuncture isn’t witchcraft; it’s a long‑established medical practice with thousands of years of documented history and modern research supporting how it helps the body heal. People from many different religious, spiritual, and non‑religious backgrounds feel comfortable receiving acupuncture because it focuses on the body’s natural physiology and does not require a specific belief system.

What should I expect during my appointment?

Your session is a fully personalized, collaborative experience where you and your practitioner explore your needs together and choose the therapies that best support your body. Each 60–90 minute appointment blends acupuncture with muscle testing and supportive treatments like optional cupping or moxibustion, and ends with about 20 minutes of deeply relaxing acupuncture designed to help your body unwind and heal.

What conditions can acupuncture and help with?

Acupuncture has been shown to help with a wide range of concerns, especially pain conditions like back pain, neck tension, sciatica, migraines, and joint issues. It’s also commonly used for stress, anxiety, sleep issues, digestive concerns, hormonal balance, fertility support, allergy symptoms, and easing nausea or fatigue during cancer care. Many people also use acupuncture for overall wellness, emotional balance, and preventative care.

Are there any side effects?

Most people feel relaxed, grounded, or pleasantly tired after acupuncture, though some may experience mild temporary soreness or a brief increase in sensation as the body adjusts. Serious side effects are extremely rare. Your practitioner will guide you through what to expect so you feel safe and supported.

What if I'm afraid of needles?

It’s completely normal to feel nervous, and many clients start out the same way. The needles are extremely thin and gently placed by highly skilled practitioners, and most people are surprised by how comfortable the experience is once they settle in.

Can I come if I'm pregnant?

Yes—acupuncture is commonly used during pregnancy, and many people find it helpful for easing discomfort and supporting overall well‑being. Your practitioner will tailor the treatment to your stage of pregnancy and avoid points that aren’t recommended.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you’ll need depends on your specific concerns, how your body responds, and whether you’re seeking relief, maintenance, or deeper long‑term healing. Some people notice meaningful shifts after just one session, but most clients benefit from a short series of treatments that become more spaced out as their symptoms improve and their body stabilizes.

How soon will I feel results?

Some people notice shifts after their very first session, while others experience gradual improvement over a short series of treatments. Your timeline depends on your specific concerns, how long you’ve had them, and how your body responds to acupuncture.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose‑fitting clothing that allows easy access to areas like your arms, legs, and back. Most clients come dressed in everyday clothes, and your practitioner will help ensure you feel relaxed and covered throughout your acupuncture session.

Do you accept insurance?

We don’t bill insurance directly, but we’re happy to provide a detailed receipt (superbill) you can submit to your insurance company if acupuncture is included in your coverage. Many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement depending on their plan.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and cash. Payment is due at the time of service.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens, and you’re welcome to cancel or reschedule your appointment—just please do so at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer the time to someone else. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee, as your practitioner has reserved that time specifically for you. Please read our cancellation policy or contact us for more information.
